The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) established the Community Rating System (CRS) Award for Excellence in 2010 to recognize individuals who have demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in promoting flood insurance and advancing floodplain management and mitigation. The award is intended to raise awareness and mutual support for flood insurance and mitigation between local government officials and insurance agents in the community.
