Tools & Resources

FloodSmart offers a range of resources, including interactive tools, widgets, toolkits, and materials, you can use to educate Americans about the impact of flooding and what they can do to protect themselves. Help connect individuals to the information they need to make informed decisions by sharing these resources via your website, blog, social networks, and other communication channels.

Flood risk and flood insurance requirements for individuals in your community may have changed as a result of recent flood map changes. Use FloodSmart resources to communicate information about map changes.

Heavy rain can happen at any time, increasing the risk of flooding in your community. West Coast residents in particular are prone to heavy rain during winter rainy season from November to April. No matter where you live, share FloodSmart tools to inform individuals of the devastating impact of flooding and the importance of getting flood protected.

Hurricanes and tropical storms can bring heavy rain and flooding not only to coastal areas, but also hundreds of miles inland. Use FloodSmart resources to inform individuals of hurricane season flood risks so that they can protect themselves with flood insurance and take steps to prepare before disaster strikes.

Levees can offer protection against flooding; however, there are a number of ways they can fail, leaving people in levee communities at risk. Use FloodSmart resources to educate individuals in your community about the flood risks associated with levees and the need for flood protection.

Dealing with the aftermath of flooding can be difficult. From restoring a home or business to filing an insurance claim, FloodSmart resources provide helpful information that you can use and share during the recovery process.

Communities affected by wildfires are at increased risk for floods and mudflows. Heavy rain or melting snow combined with wildfire-affected land create a recipe for disaster. Use FloodSmart resources to help individuals understand the risks and the protection that flood insurance offers.

The fact sheet provides valuable tips to help real estate agent talk with their customers.
