How to Renew Your Policy

Flood insurance is a dollar well spent.

Tony Morello, flood survivor, New Bern, NC

Contact your agent or lender to renew or update your policy.

Your flood insurance policy does not automatically renew – you must renew every year.

Look for renewal reminders from your insurance company and the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) in the weeks leading up to your policy expiration date.

You can also check your policy declaration form or call your agent to know when it is time to renew your policy.

Am I required to renew every year?

You are required to renew your flood insurance if you live in a high-risk area or have a government-backed mortgage.

When is it time to renew my policy?

Your flood insurance agent can help you renew or make changes to your flood policy.

If your mortgage lender requires you to have flood insurance, contact them directly to ask questions about renewing or changing your policy. Your premium may be paid through an escrow account established by your lender.

If your flood insurance premium is not included in your escrow account, you’ll want to pay your insurance company directly.
