Flood Insurance Mitigation Discount Tool

You may get a discount on your flood insurance policy based on how your home is built. You can also modify your property to protect against flood damage and pay even less.
Use the NFIP’s flood insurance mitigation discount tool to find out if you qualify for a policy price reduction. Our tool uses FEMA data, models and technology to measure flood risk. It looks at flooding frequency, distance to water and property details.

For more information on foundation type, see the NFIP Flood Insurance Manual Section 3. II. C. 3.

The foundation type of a building is a good indicator for where a flood is likely to begin, and the flood risk involved.

Select one of the six foundation types that best describes your building:

Machinery & Equipment (M&E) Info Icon

For more information including specific details on the covered Machinery & Equipment, see the NFIP Flood Insurance Manual Section 3. II. C. 5. a.

A Machinery & Equipment discount is the mitigation discount for elevating all covered Machinery & Equipment to at least the elevation of the floor above the building's first floor. The (red) arrow indicates where the M&E should be located to be eligible for the discount. Is your building eligible for the Machinery and Equipment Discount?

Total Discount Info Icon

A loss and expense constant is applied to the full risk premium separate from any of the discounts mentioned above. As a result, the difference in full risk premium between any two quotes will not exactly match the percentages listed. Additionally, certain discounts may not apply to the coastal erosion portion of the premium, if applicable. Policies may also be subject to minimum or maximum rates by peril and coverage, which may impact how discounts are applied and the specific amount of premium savings.

Based on the information provided, your building may be eligible for a % discount.
